You can make a difference as a Suicide Prevention Partnership volunteer. Opportunities include: Hotline: answering suicide crisis line calls from home. (requires a 32-hour training course, offered quarterly. Must be at least 21.) Speaker’s Bureau: delivering Intervention Skills or other training to community groups, health fair gatherings, businesses, faith based organizations, college students, law enforcement agencies and other community service based organizations (requires 10 hours of training, offered quarterly) SAFE:TEEN: High School based suicide prevention program geared towards today’s adolescent population and their specific issues. Trainings are given to a High School’s administration and staff, offered to parents, and then given to the students. (Volunteers must be available Monday thru Friday 7am-3pm.) This program is coordinated by the El Paso County Department of Health and Environment. LOSS Team: highly trained group that responds to the scene of a completed suicide and acts as a liaison between the family and the 1st Responders. Offers much needed support and resources for the newly bereaved family. (requires an intense training) Office work: answering phones, clerical support (previous experience preferred, but not required.)
